Two years after the last release of Published Alternative Assembly Linux Mint distributional assembly – Linux Mint Debian Edition 5 , based on the Debian batch database (Classic Linux Mint is based on the Ubuntu batch database). In addition to using a Debian batch base, an important difference between LMDE from Linux Mint is a permanent batch database update cycle (Model of Continuous Updates: Partial Rolling Release, Semi-Rolling Release), in which package updates are constantly and the user at any time has the opportunity to go to the last Versions of programs.
Distribution is available in the form of installation ISO images with a CINNAMON desktop. In the delivery of LMDE, most of the improvements in the classic release of Linux Mint 20.3 are included, including the original project development (update manager, configurators, menus, interface, system GUI applications). The distribution is fully compatible with Debian GNU / Linux 11, but not compatible at the level of packages with Ubuntu and classic Linux MINT releases.
lmde is focused on more technically competent users and provides newer versions of packages. The purpose of the LMDE development is to verify that Linux Mint will be able to continue to exist in the same form even in case of termination of the Ubuntu development. In addition, LMDE helps to check the application developed by the application for their full work in systems other than Ubuntu.
