“Do not believe propaganda”: anti-guedure protest of a Russian journalist

Video Marina Ovsiannikova, a journalist on the Chain Pervy Kanal, was arrested on March 14th. She had just protested, live against the war in Ukraine and the propaganda of the Kremlin.

“I spread the propaganda of the Kremlin and I am ashamed”: It is with these words that the Russian journalist Marina Ovsiannikova justifies his choice to protest against the war led by his country in Ukraine. “My father is Ukrainian, my mother is Russian. They have never been enemies,” she says in a pre-recorded video. The journalist employed by the Pervy Kanal chain, followed by millions of Russians, explains why she decided to intervene in full direct, Monday, March 14, with a poster denouncing the Russian invasion.

“No to war. Do not believe propaganda. We are lying here,” she registered in Russian and English on a big sheet of paper. She planted behind the live presenter for a few seconds before a report is started and the image of the cut studio.

Marina Ovsiannikova was arrested immediately after and the Russian press agency TASS indicated that it could be continued for “decreioning the use of Russian armed forces”. She has, however, received the thanks of the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, in a broadcast video message Tuesday, March 15th.
