Linux From Scratch provides instructions for creating from zero base Linux system, using only the source texts of the necessary software. Beyond Linux From Scratch complements the LFS instructions for assembling and setting up about 1000 software packages covering various applications, from DBMS and server systems, to graphic shells and media players.

In Linux from SCRATCH 11.1, transition to GLIBC 2.35, Linux kernel 5.16.9, Binutils 2.38, AUTOMAKE 1.16.5, Bash 5.1.16, Coreutils 9.0, OpenSSL 3.0.1, Python 3.10.2, Sysvinit 3.01, SystemD 250, Util-Linux 2.37.4. Fixed bugs in boot scripts, editorial work in explanatory materials throughout the book.

  • cross linux from scratch ” – a description of the cross-platform assembly of the LFS system, supported by architectures: x86, x86_64, sparc, mips, PowerPC, Alpha , HPPA, ARM;
  • Hardened Linux from Scratch ” – Instructions for improving LFS security, use of additional patches and restrictions;
  • lfs hints ” – a selection of additional tips with the description of alternative solutions for the steps described in LFS and BLFS.
