Intel absorbed Linutronix, developing RT-branch of Linux kernel

Intel Corporation announced About buying LINUTRONIX, developing technology for the use of Linux in industrial systems. Including Linutronix oversees the development of the RT-branch of the Linux kernel (“Realtime-Prempt”, PREEMPT_RT or “-RT”), focused on the use of real-time systems in systems. The post of technical director in Linutronix occupies Thomas Gleixner, the main developer of PREEMPT_RT patches and X86 architecture Minener in the Linux kernel.

It is noted that the purchase of Linutronix reflects Intel support for the Linux kernel and associated community. Intel will provide LINUTRONIX commands more features and resources. After completing the Linutronix transaction, will continue to work as an independent business in the Intel division responsible for the software development.
