In Russian Academy of Sciences discussed development of Russian cosmic astrophysical studies

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, scientists discussed the development of astrophysical studies in Russia.

The achievements of Russian space astrophysical observatives created with the participation of the S. A. Lavochkina Scientific and Production Association (enters the state corporation “Roscosmos”), and the Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Space Akademik Lev Green was told in this area.

“Astrophysical program in our country is carried out very worthy,” he said. According to him, the Observatory “Spectr-R”, which has worked in space of 7.5 years, spent about 4 thousand observations of various astronomical objects. Information on the structure of 160 cores of active galaxies with supermassive black holes, 20 pulsars (neutron stars), 12 cosmic matters (stars and planetary education regions) in our galaxy and 2 megamasers near the galaxies nuclei.

Currently, according to the Leo of the Green, the Observatory “Spectr-RG” with Russian and German telescopes pleases scientists with new scientific results.

“An X-ray review of the sky telescope Erosita was investigated about a million x-ray sources. Large-scale hot gas bubbles were found, apparently related to shock waves from the bursts of millions years ago,” he said.

Academic Added that another sky map is building another observatory tool – the ART-XC telescope. He stressed that “Spectr-RG” is a good example of international cooperation.

The “Spectrum-UV” must be the following in this series of space observatories, which academician called the main “window to the Universe” after 2025.

“Being launched on time, it will become the” window in the Universe “not only for Russian scientists exploring the universe in the ultraviolet range, but as it were, the place of completing the exploitation of the American Space Telescope Hubble,” the lion explained green.

According to him, the “Spectrum-UV” will allow to disclose the issues of the evolution of the universe, the physics of the formation of stars and properties atmospheric exoplanet. Lion Green added that by the end of the decade, the launch of another space observatory is expected – “Spectr-M”, which is a complex and interesting project.
