The Centrifuge CF-18 centrifuge functions a specialized simulator of a manual managed descent TS-18, which allows to train the cosmonauts to control the Soyuz MS ship when exposed to real overload that the crew is experiencing during return from orbit to land.
The cosmonauts exam demonstrate the actions algorithm that must be performed if automation fails during the device descent or will receive a recommendation Go to manual managed descent.
The crew commander and the flight engineer will pass the exam in turn. There are two modes – static and dynamics. Some tasks cosmonaut performs, being in a fixed centrifuge, others – when a centrifuge in motion. The main thing, “plant” the descent apparatus with minimal overload and as close as possible to the calculation point.
The first of this exam passed the commander of the duplicate crew of the ISS-67 Sergey Prokopyev and the flight engineer Dmitry Perekin, then the commander of the main crew of the ISS-67 Oleg Artemyev and the flight engineer Denis Matveyev. Both crews earned the highest rating from examiners.
Next week, the crews of the ICS-67 will pass examination comprehensive training, after which the cosmonauts will go to Baikonur and will continue to prepare for flight. The start of the piloted ship “Union MS-21” is scheduled for March 18, 2022.
