Tank of new rocket “Soyuz-5” sent for tests

On Friday, February 18, 2022, from the Progress Space Center to the Central Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (TsNIIMASH, part of the State Corporation “Roskosmos”) for static tests Sent fuel tank (tank “G”) The bench block of the first stage of the Soyuz-5 carrier rocket.

Currently, specialists of the RCC “Progress” together with specialists of TsNIIMASH began the final stage of static tests of the Baku “G” of the first step of the prospective missile “Soyuz-5” – confirmation of strength and admission to cold and firing tests. Tank strength testing is carried out on two assemblies. The first stage is carried out on the basis of the Progress Test Center “Progress” and provides for the imitation of the transportation of the tank. The second stage – on the experimental database of the TsNIIMASH strength – provides for imitation of the power effect of the oxygen-kerosene rocket engine of the RD-171MV on the construction of the tank when conducting fire stands.

Conducting static tank tests of the combustible first stage “Union-5” – a significant step in the production of a new generation carrier rocket for the RCC “Progress”. In 2021, the enterprises on the basis of the test center were conducted by static testing of the oxidant tank in confirmation of strength and admission to cold and firing tests of the bench block of the first stage of the Soyuz-5 carrier missile.

The promising two-stage medium-class rocket “Soyuz-5” is developed in order to ensure the launches of automatic spacecraft on solar-synchronous, high-elliptical, geophech and geostationary orbits, including using acceleration blocks. As part of the Rocket “Soyuz-5” new engines will be used.

Magic engine of the first stage of the RD-171 MV of the development of the Scientific and Production Association “Energomash” named after Academician V.P. Glushko (enters Roscosmos) and the engine of the second stage of the RD-0124 MS of the development of the Voronezh Design Bureau of Himavtomatics (enters Roscosmos) provide the characteristics on the fuel pair of oxygen – naphthyl, close to the maximum. The launches of the new carrier missile are planned from the Baikonur cosmodrome within the Russian-Kazakhstan project “Baiterek”.
