The next correction of the height of the orbit of the International Space Station is scheduled for February 26, 2022 in order to form ballistic conditions before making the piloted ship “Union MS-21” in the orbit (March 18) and the landing of the descent “Union MS-19″ (March 30 ” ).
According to preliminary data of the service of ballistic-navigation provision of the Center for Flight Management TsNIIMASH (included in the state corporation “Roskosmos”), at 04:37 Moscow time is planned to issue a team on the inclusion of the MS-18 Progress Cargo Ship engines docked to the service module “Star” of the Russian segment of the ISS. They must work 372.5 seconds and give the impulse 0.54 m / s. It is expected that after the adjusting maneuvers, the average height of the station orbits will increase by 1.1 km – to 417.94 km.
The parameters of the ISS orbit after the correction maneuor must be:
- Couch period: 92.87 min;
- Obligation of the orbit: 51.66 degrees;
- Minimum orbit height: 415.40 km;
- Maximum Orbit height: 435.97 km.
In all the time of the flight of the ISS, 315 corrections of the height of its orbit, including 166, with the help of Progress cargo ships engines is carried out. Before arriving at the ISS of the new Russian crew on the “Union of MC-21”, on March 11, 2022, another correction of the station orbit was planned.
Now the crew is on board the ISS as part of the astronauts of Roscosmos Anton Slipper (station commander) and Peter Dubrova, as well as NASA astronauts Mark Wanda Haya, Raji Chari, Thomas Marshblen, Keila Barron and Astronaut of the European Space Agency Mattias Maurera.
