Crews MKS-67 coped with abnormal situations during “docking”

The crews of the ISS-67 expedition continue to prepare for the upcoming space flight. The current week began with the exam on the mooring and reloading of the piloted ship “Union of MS”. Operations were performed in manual mode on a specialized simulator “Don Union”.

Commander of the duplicating crew of the ISS-67 Sergey Prokopyev and the flight engineer Dmitry Perezenin were the first to have been tested. Then the same exam was passed by the commander of the main crew of the ISS-67 Oleg Artemyev and the flight engineer Denis Matveyev.

In the process of examination training, the cosmonauts were performed in four modes, the first of which is a reloading from a single docking unit of the Russian segment of the ISS to another. This is a regular mode that is always implemented manually.

During the mooring, the emergence of abnormal situations, which, for example, can happen at the moment when the cosmonauts completed the deployment of the stations, are located opposite the docking node and are already starting to move. On the exam, it is necessary to recognize an abnormal situation and demonstrate the Commissions of the Action Algorithm to exit. One of the moor modes is performed in the shade. Crews MKS-67 successfully coped with the tasks and received from the examiners to evaluate “excellent.”

On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, Roscosmos Cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveyev will demonstrate the skills of manual management of the Docking of the MS Progress Cargo Ship with a station on the TELEPHERATOR simulator. Next, both crews must pass the exam on the manual controlled descent of the Soyuz ship, and from February 22 – to start examining comprehensive training. The final stage of preparation for the flight will be held on Baikonur.

The start of the piloted ship “Union MS-21” is scheduled for March 18, 2022.
