Baikonur begins to prepare for launch of ONEWEB spacecraft

The Baikonur cosmodrome delivered a new batch of 36 ONEWEB spacecraft within the framework of Mission No. 38. They arrived at the airport “Extreme” by the An-124 airport. Their launch using the Soyuz-2.1B launch vehicle and the Frigate Acid Block is scheduled for March 5, 2022 at 01:41 Moscow time.

South Space Center specialists (branch of the center of exploitation of ground-based space infrastructure facilities, enjunction of spacecraft and their further transportation on the Baikonur cosmodrome site. The next stage of technological events is the preparation of devices on the technical complex.

OneWeb low-bit spacecraft are designed to provide terrestrial consumers with high-speed Internet. Currently, 428 ONEWB communication satellites have already been in orbit. The ONEWEB missions for the next 2022, in which the Russian Soyuz-2 carrier missile will also be used, will allow the OneWeb company to start providing services around the world this year.

Internet access through the OneWeb satellite system will be carried out through 40 terrestrial terminals stations that will be deployed on the ground surface. ONEWEB terminals will be autonomous, capable of independently supplying themselves with energy and well-protected from the influence of adverse environmental factors.
