What relationship between the Afghan Taliban regime and the members of the “Convoy of Freedom”, who hear through France and to Brussels, denounce sanitary measures? The question remains, for the time being, without definitive answer, but it deserves to be asked since the irruption, Saturday, February 12, Place de l’Etoile, in the heart of Paris, of vehicles that escaped dams at the gates of the capital city. This scene, filmed, reacted in France, but also much more unexpectedly, news agencies in Kabul.

The video, which circulates on social networks, shows a policeman descending from a screen printed service with a colleague to intercept a white car that tried to escape a first control a few moments earlier. The first official brandished his weapon and braque on the recalcitrant conductor. An attitude that has attracted some emotion, including within its administration. The Paris Police Prefect, Didier Lallement, triggered an internal investigation from Sunday. The parquet of Paris has also opened, Monday, a preliminary investigation by the heads of “voluntary violence with weapon per person custodian of the public authority and threats”. The investigations were entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).

A detail of this scene escaped commentators and the French authorities, focusing, legitimately, their attention on the exercise of force by a duly authorized agent. The white car was, indeed, surmounted by two flags floating in the wind. The first, tricolor, clearly attacked its occupants to a movement of protest against the sanitary measures very attached to the French flag. On the other hand, the second attested an allegiance to another country. It was the flag adopted by the Taliban regime since August 15, 2021, the date of their return to power by force, and whose exact title is the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan.

White, it sports, written in black, chahada, the profession of faith of Islam, of which it constitutes the first of the five pillars which define the bases of the Muslim belief, a short sentence which claims that he n There is no other God than Allah and Muhammad is his prophet. These signs today have invaded Afghanistan, starting with its capital, Kabul. The official buildings, the barracks, the entrances of the city or the streets are paved with Talibane colors. Street vendors have even specialized in the sale of these flags of all sizes, the smallest of which have occurred since autumn 2021 on the dashboards of cars, in Kabul, no doubt to attract the good graces of the new masters country.
