The Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed announced, Sunday, February 6, the dissolution of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, a body which guarantees the proper functioning of the justice and the independence of the judicial authority in Tunisia.
Kaïs Saïed said the council belonged to the past and that it would publish a temporary decree about it. No additional details concerning this decree was given.
Prohibition of manifesting
Political parties and organizations, including the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT), will demonstrate Sunday to claim that people involved in terrorism affairs are held responsible for their actions and pay tribute to the laity militant Chokri Belaid at the ninth anniversary of his assassination.
Kaïs Said’s supporters should manifest against the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
