Package of 16 intergovernmental, interdepartmental and commercial documents, including a joint Russian-Chinese statement about international relations, was adopted as part of the visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to China. Among other things, an agreement on cooperation in the field of ensuring the complementarity of GLONASS and Beidou was signed.
In the course of the Russian-Chinese negotiations at the highest level, a joint statement of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China on international relations, entering into a new era, and global sustainable development were adopted. In it, Moscow and Beijing stressed that they advocate the formation of a new type of relationships between world powers based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Roskosmos State Corporation and the Commission on the Chinese Satellite Navigation System on Friday, February 4, 2022, signed an agreement on cooperation in ensuring the complementarity of global navigation satellite systems of GLONASS and Beidou in terms of system time scale.
The long-term goal of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of ensuring the complementarity of GLONASS and Beidou is the provision of higher quality navigation services through the use of signals of both global navigation satellite systems. One of these conditions is the coordination of the GLONASS and Beidou’s system scales with reference to the UTC International Scale.
GLONASS and Beidou and Beidou signaling mode will reduce risks in the navigation support of consumers in case of violations in the functioning of individual global navigation satellite systems, improve the accuracy and reliability of the solution of navigation problems.
