Cosmonauts continue to work out survival skills in snowy forest

Training on the action of the crew when landing in a forest-swampy terrain of winter can be carried out in full and abbreviated programs. If survival skills have not yet been purchased or lost over time, it is necessary to undergo a test for a duration of two days with overnight stays in the forest. Participants in abbreviated training usually become astronauts that have passed this stage of preparation for flight.

Oleg Platonov and Konstantin Borisov “survived” in the winter forest three years ago. Then they were candidates for astronauts, and now there are already cosmonauts tests. The third member of their conditional crew was the instructor of the CPC Dmitry Koshotenko. Specialists who are engaged in the preparation of astronauts, also need to maintain similar skills. On the morning of February 3, the crew began testing in the forest and in the evening of the same day performed the tasks set before him. According to training participants, high drifts and the need to work in intensive mode added difficulties to them, but the former experience helped overcome them.

Recall that directly “survival” precedes a course of occupations, during which cosmonauts resemble the rules for ensuring the crew safety in a forest-marshide area in winter. They need to know how to build a shelter, divorce the fire and not give fire to go out, how to keep radio communication with rescuers and provide first medical care to victims. Before training, astronauts get the opportunity to work out separate elements on the ground. Therefore, by the beginning of the tests, each of them is sufficiently prepared independently of the preservation of the previously obtained skills.
