An more tool to protect the most fragile against coronavirus. FFP2 masks will be delivered for free to people for whom vaccination against coronavirus works, announced Wednesday 2 February the government.

From now, “pharmacies of pharmacies deliver free (…) FFP2 (…) masks to people at risk of serious forms of CVIV-19 and immunocompromised, for which vaccination does not induce production and the Maintaining an antibody title at a sufficient level to ensure sufficient protection “, details an order published in the Official Journal

The measurement also concerns people “where a disease or treatment leads to a rapid decline in the level of antibodies”, or in fact most of the immunocompromised.

Nearly 300,000 people concerned

Fragile people, as well as all those tested positive and even simple contacts, could already get surgical masks for free, but they are essentially used to avoid spreading the virus and have limited interest to avoid to be infected.

On the other hand, the FFP2 masks have a good level of protection for the carrier itself. Some health professionals want to generalize its port, especially for caregivers, but the government is reluctant, especially for insufficient supply reasons.

Each person concerned by this measure may, on medical prescription, obtain “a deliverance of 20 masks for two weeks or for a deliverance of 50 masks for five weeks”, specifies the decree.

Immunocompromises, little or no receptive vaccines, are about 300,000 in France and are currently numerous in resuscitation services, alongside non-vaccinated.
