Height correction of ISS orbit is planned on February 6

Planned correction of the height of the orbit of the International Space Station is scheduled for February 6, 2022 in order to form ballistic conditions before making the piloted ship of the Soyuz MS-21 (March 18) and the landing of the descent “Union MS-19” (March 30) .

According to the preliminary data of the service of ballistic-navigation provision of the Center for Flight Management TsNIIMASH (part of the state corporation “Roskosmos”), at 12:30 pm Moscow time is planned to issue a team on the inclusion of the engines of the Progress MS-18 cargo ship engines, dashed to the service Module “Star” of the Russian segment of the ISS. It is expected that they will work 109.4 seconds and give a momentum 0.2 m / s. It is planned that after the adjusting maneuvers, the average height of the station orbits will increase by 400 meters – to a height of 417.6 km.

The parameters of the ISS orbit after the corrective maneuver should be:

  • Couch period: 92.86 min;
  • orbit: 51.66 degrees;
  • Minimum orbit height: 415.67 km;
  • Maximum Orbit Height: 439.62 km.

In all the time of the flight of the ISS, 314 correction of the height of its orbit, including 165 – with the help of Progress cargo ships engines.

Now the crew is located on board the ISS as part of the astronauts of Roscosmos Anton Dubler (station commander) and Peter Dubrova, as well as NASA Astronauts Mark Wanda Haya, Raja Chari, Thomas Marshblen, Cayila Barron and Astronaut of the European Space Agency Mattias Maurera.
