In an epidemic context that improves slowly and in the face of a still strong hospital tension, the vaccinal pass constitutes the cornerstone of French politics. “The worst is behind us”, however, advanced the Minister of Health, Wednesday night.

The art of navigating for an early describe would be as difficult as full outbreak? The question resurfaces at each wave of COVID-19, and the fifth does not seem to be an exception. In his wake, others arise, facing the Omicron Variant, now dominant: will France go to the good speed to alleviate the restriction measures that weigh on the daily life of the French? What indicators retain for such decisions, when other European countries do already have the choice to relax more broadly the valves?
In the government, we maintain the course. The calendar of lightening, unveiled from January 20 by the Prime Minister Jean Castex, even though the epidemic peak was not yet reached, remains. If he may have lifted upon his announcement of fears on a looser too early, the peak of contaminations, which now seems to reinforce this choice.
“The worst is behind us, we did the hardest, Acté Olivier Véran on BFM-TV, Wednesday 2 February, confirming the passage of the peak of contaminations. The Minister of Health nevertheless pointed out: this Does not mean “we have no difficult days in front of us, the tension at the hospital is very strong”.
“We are getting to the peak of hospitalizations”
The Health Defense Council, intervened on February 2, the day of the first restrictions on teleworking, the abandonment of the gauges for the places of great gatherings and the end of the obligation of the port of the mask to the outside, did not give rise to a change of rhythm. Next step: The reopening of the discos as of February 16, and the deployment of a new health protocol at school, on the return of the school holidays, on which consultations are scheduled next week.
On the forehead of the epidemic, several indicators confirm the beginning of reflux of the fifth wave. Viral traffic, with 315,363 positive cases recorded on February 2, started slowing down. The number of hospitalized patients at 32,720 patients from CVIV-19 to 2 February, is a higher level than the first wave. “We are arriving at the peak of hospitalizations,” said Véran.
With a difference in size: the number of patients in resuscitation has already stabilized below the 4,000 bar, which gave cold sweats to hospitals – 3,700 Covid-19 patients occupy a bed in Critical care at $ 1 – February -, with a downward trend, initiated soon three weeks ago.
