In EU hoping for opening of borders for Russian tourists in spring

Executive Director of the European Commission on Tourism (EUROPEAN Travel Commission, ETS), Eduardo Santander said that they are hoping for the opening of borders for Russians in the spring of 2022. He told about this “Izvestia.”

He noted that 74 percent of Russia’s citizens’ travel falls on Europe. In this regard, Russian tourists play an extremely important role for the market, Santander added. According to him, safe travel has become possible due to the spread of European green passports, strict rules entered by the health system, as well as high vaccination rates in the EU.

At the same time, Santander stressed that the decision on the opening of the borders for Russians rests on the approval of the Russian Satellite Vaccine by the World Health Organization (WHO).

At the same time, the publication notes, even in the case of a positive decision, the Russians will have to take into account many nuances. In particular, the European Commission approved the standard duration of certificates of vaccination – nine months, this rule comes into force on February 1.

At the end of December last year, the representative of WHO Margaret Harris explained the delay with the recognition of the “satellite V” “test of technological processes”. According to her, for inclusion in the register of funds for use in emergency situations, WHO requests data on the safety and efficiency of the drug, as well as documentation on production technology.
