China: opened longest underwater automotive tunnel

In China, after almost four years of construction, the longest underwater automobile tunnel in the country was opened. This is reported by CNN.

The tunnel passes under the Taihi Lake in the province of Jiangsu, about 50 kilometers east of Shanghai, and connects the high-speed highways of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou. Its length is 10.79 kilometers.

According to the TV channel, about $ 1.56 billion and more than two million cubic meters of concrete was spent on the construction of a 6-band structure of a width of 17.45 meters wide and more than two million cubic meters of concrete. The ceiling of the tunnel is equipped with LED lamps.

In January 2021, in Europe, they again spoke about the construction of the longest submarine railway tunnel, which should pass from Helsinki to Tallinn along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. About Megatonell worth $ 17 billion was actively taught in 2019, but after a year of discussions, the project of Estonia and Finland Zabuxed due to the concerns of Tallinn on the environmental and economic aspects of construction, as well as in connection with security reasons. According to the project, the length of the tunnel is about 100 kilometers, and the length of the object directly under water is from 50 to 56 kilometers.
