Aggression in the relations of Kazakhstan was associated with an attempt to create a controlled chaos zone in the country with the subsequent seizure of power. This is on Monday, January 10, President of the Republic of Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev said, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the head of Kazakhstan, the riots in the country can be considered an organized terrorist attack. At the same time, it is known that militants from other states took part in them, including from Afghanistan and the Middle East countries, stressed Tokaev.
“The plan was in the formation of a controlled chaos in our territory, with the subsequent seizure of power. Therefore, an antiterrorist operation was launched in Kazakhstan,” the president explained.
Mass protests in Kazakhstan began on Sunday, January 2, due to a sharp increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Soon the protesters put forward political demands: the resignation of the government, holding new elections, departure from the policy of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Protests turned into mass riots.
