Sassololi was put in the hospital on December 26, but his press secretary Roberto Qilo reported only on January 10. “Hospitalization was necessary due to the dysfunction of the immune system,” he explained. The official activity of the Chairman EP is temporarily discontinued.
RIA Novosti reminds that in December 65-year-old politician announced that he will not again expose his candidacy for the elections of the head of the European Parliament. Prior to that, in September 2021, he was hospitalized with inflammation of the lungs in Strasbourg (it was not caused by COVID-19).
