Australia concluded an agreement on the purchase of armored vehicles for a total of 2.5 billion dollars. It is reported by the Sydney Morning Herald.
In particular, as part of the modernization of the Army Park, Australia will purchase 75 M1A2 Abrams tanks from the USA. As the Minister of Defense of the country Peter Dutton noted, the new technique will replace 59 outdated M1A1 tanks purchased in 2007. Also, Australia will receive 29 armored mining machines M1150, 17 tank bridges and six armored repair and evacuation machines.
It is expected that the first deliveries will be implemented in 2024. In total, in the coming years, the Australian authorities intend to spend on armored vehicles from 30 to 42 billion dollars, newspaper notes.
