The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan deleted a message about 164 dead during the riots in the republic. It is reported by Telegram Channel ORDA.
In the Ministry of Health, they stated that they did not give these data, the previously appeared information does not correspond to reality. In turn, the Ministry of Information and Public Development was explained that the rule of the authorities about the number of victims was a technical error.
Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev said that he gave an order to open fire on terrorists to defeat without warning. “Abroad express appeals to the parties to negotiate for a peaceful problem solving. What nonsense! What can be negotiations with criminals, with bandits? They need to be destroyed. This will be done soon,” he promised.
Protests in the republic began on January 2 due to the increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Soon, economic demands were replaced by political: the resignation of the government, holding new elections, consideration of the issue of lustration of people from the “clan” of the former President of Nursultan Nazarbayev. Tokayev called protesters terrorists. At his request to Kazakhstan included the forces of the organization of a collective security treaty.
