Kazakhstan: to suspend work of exchange points of banks

Against the background of unstable work of the Internet and conducted in Almaty and other regions of counter-terrorism operation, the functioning of the banking system in Kazakhstan will be restored in several stages, while the priority and social significance of banking services for the population and business will be taken into account. This is reported on the website of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

The published statement specifies that after the normalization of the situation in all regions of the country, measures will be taken to resume international payments and translations, as well as trading on the foreign exchange platform of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange. In connection with the decision to secure, the work of exchange points of banks will be temporarily suspended.

Earlier it was reported that the Exchange Committee at the Agency for Protection and Development Competition (AZRK) of Kazakhstan called on to suspend trading on the country’s commercial exchanges before the situation stabilization.

Decision accepted against the background of the protests broke down in the republic in early January, who later turned into riots. Protesters demanded to care from the policy of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Kazakhstan’s authorities called the participants of the protests terrorists and turned for help in the CSTO.
