“Japan as the only country underwent atomic bombardments should continue to promote the nuclear-free world,” the prime minister said. At the same time, according to him, the current situation will not change, if there are no movements from nuclear powers.

The Japanese prime minister called an extremely important agreement on the prohibition of nuclear weapons (DJO) and reminded that nuclear powers are not involved in it. “I think that Japan, taking this document as a basis, should assist that somehow closer to the Nuclear Weapon Prohibition Treaty,” said the head of government.

DJo entered into force on January 22, 2021. The contract provides for the prohibition of development, testing, storage, acquisition, transportation and use of nuclear weapons. Currently, the document ratified 51 states – mainly from Latin America, Oceania, Southeast Asia and Africa. At the same time, none of the signed nuclear weapons possesses.
