The World Health Organization (WHO) expects that in the next 6-8 weeks, Omikron-strain will be infected more than 50 percent of the population of Europe. With such a prediction, the director of the WHO Regional Bureau of WHO HANS Kulve, reports Reuters.
The representative of the organization explained that in the first week of 2022, the number of infected inhabitants of Europe increased by 7 million. Based on this, in WHO expect that more than half of Europeans will be infected with coronavirus infection in the coming months.
Previously, the WHO Special Representative on the fight against COVID-19 David Nabarro suggested that three months could be difficult for people because of the Omicron-strain coronavirus, but in the near future the pandemic can come to an end.
