Kazakhstan approved the new composition of the government, the corresponding decree signed President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev. Russian names were found among the ministers – this is the deputy premiere of Roman Sklyland and the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin. Information was published on the website of the President of Kazakhstan.
In the new list of Kazakhstani government, only two Russian surnames were surnames – Sklyar and Ilyin. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as a result of the permutation, has retained the post, and the former deputy prime minister even went to the raise – now Sklyar took the place of the first deputy head of the government.
The trend on updating posts at the expense of deputies is traced in all new Tokayev’s appointments. In particular, former deputy ministers headed the Ministry of Information, Industry and Infrastructure, as well as energy. But the heads of the power block of the government, the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture retained the status quo.
Protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2. People began to spontaneously enter the rallies in the west of the country due to the increase in the retail price of liquefied gas (from 10 to 20 rubles per liter). Later, the acts of civil disobedience covered the whole country, and in large cities they turned into pogroms. The center of Alma-Ata was captured by the protesters. Against this background, unrest began – separate armed groups seized government buildings and burned them. Kazakh nationalists and American NGOs were called guilty of severe actions.
Tokayev President first satisfied the requirements of people: he retired the government and introduced the state regulation of prices for products. However, after the start of mass riots and appeals to the seizure of power, the president led the counter-terrorist operation regime in several regions of the country. Kazakhstani security officials together with the CSTO troops managed to restore order in the republic.
