France will welcome the Rugby World Cup at XIII in 2025, seventy-one years after the very first edition, announced Tuesday, January 11, the French Rugby Federation to XIII.
Originally programmed in the United States and Canada but pushed back for financial reasons, the World Rugby World Rugby in XIII will be the third edition organized only in the Hexagon, the first since fifty- three years. France had already organized the World Cup in 1954, then in 1972, before hosting in 2000 and 2013 with the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The Prime Minister Jean Castex, rejoiced at the press conference at the announcement in Paris:
“This is a great moment. I know the weight of the symbols and I understand what you feel: there is behind all the practitioners and supporters of this discipline. (…) The government supports its support without reservation to This competition, because it participates in a policy assumed promoting and hosting major international events in France. “
Rugby, “It’s not just a personal taste but a French passion”, again added the Prime Minister, after joking on his “immoderate love for the oval balloon”.
Four competitions over five weeks
According to the press release of the French Rugby Federation in XIII, France 2025 will bring together five weeks simultaneously four competitions (women, men, armchairs and young people) and will take place in forty cities across the country.
