Italian company wanted to buy Russian state bank

Italian bank UniCredit wanted to buy the Russian state bank “Opening” and is already preparing to start Due Diligence (independent assessment of the object – approx. “Tape.ru”). About this with reference to its source reports Bloomberg.

It is argued that the company acquired a consultant to study the accounting of a credit institution and expects to complete this process within a few weeks.

At the end of 2021, the head of the bank “Opening” Mikhail Zadornov said that in November, the company’s management held several meetings with potential investors. He noted that there are foreigners among interested in the purchase of a bank.

“Opening” passed under control of the Central Bank in 2017. The regulator announced his reservation and appointed a temporary administration. According to assets, the Bank takes the eighth place in the Russian banking system and is included in the list of systemically significant banks.
