According to the authorities, 2161 persons were brought to violating the regime of a state of emergency to administrative responsibility. 412 pre-trial investigations began in the country, including the acts of terrorism and murder. In total, on the facts of murder, the use of violence against government officials, hooliganism, 388 criminal cases were initiated on the buildings of government agencies.
According to the results of the Tokaev meeting, the importance of continuing active work on the restoration of public order and security in the country was noted.
Mass protests in Kazakhstan began on Sunday, January 2, due to a sharp increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Soon, the protesters put forward political requirements: the resignation of the government, holding new elections, departure from the policy of the former President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Protests have grown into bulk riots. In several regions, the buildings of the authorities were captured and adjusted. The main clashes with security forces were held in Alma-Ata. The authorities called protesters terrorists.
