The popular primary vote will take place via the Neovote platform, which was used in September and last December during the primary of ecologists and the Republican Congress (LR). At the first, about 122,000 people had participated in the vote, and 139,000 LR activists had taken part in the online vote of the Congress of their party.

The collective of the popular primary was founded in February 2021 by two activists from the associations, Mathilde Imer and Samuel Grzybowski. The latter reported that the initiative had collected nearly 885,000 euros from donations since its launch from 11,493 contributors. These donations allow the collective to pay the voting platform but also to cover the costs of communication of the movement and to train the volunteers.
