In early 2022, the state testing of the light floating tank “Sprut-SDM1” will be completed in Russia. The deadlines for the completion of work called the industrial director of the arms cluster of the state corporation “Rostech” Beckhan Ozdoev, reports TASS.
“In 2022, Kurganmashzavod plans to begin the development of the production of a light floating tank” Sprut-SDM1 “for airborne troops. In the first quarter of this year, the state testing of this unique combat vehicle will be completed,” he said.
In Rostekh, they also noted that Kurganmashzavod continues to fulfill the state program of arms until 2027. Within the framework of the program, the Ministry of Defense of Russia will supply BMP-3 infantry combat vehicles, armored repair and evacuation machines of Bram L-L, as well as landing BMD-4M and BTR-MDM.
In December, Beckhan Ozodov said that Rostech studies the possibility of creating a wheel tank with a combat separation of a floating machine “SPRUT-SDM1”.
In September, Sprut-SDM1 was dropped from tower in the framework of the test. Developers checked the capabilities of the machine during landing.
In July, the floating tank was tested in the Black Sea. As part of the first stage of nautical testing “Sprut-SDM1” confirmed the possibility of transportation by landing ships.
