Moldova allowed introduction of emergency due to Gazprom

One of the options to solve the problem with the next payment of “Moldovagaz” to Gazprom can be the introduction of a state of emergency (PE) in the republic. Such a development of events allowed a speaker of the parliament, the leader of the ruling party of action and solidarity Igor Grosu, reports TASS.

According to him, the authorities are preparing additional measures to support the population in case of increasing gas prices. The latter circumstance is associated with a sharp increase in purchasing price. At the end of last year, the head of “Moldovagaza” Vadim Cheban was argued, it was $ 550 per thousand cubic meters, and from January reached $ 647.

In turn, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure Andrei Schyna stated that in December, the Republic bought 450 dollars gas. He did not rule out that gas tariffs can grow by 30 percent.

Cheban believes that without the introduction of the PE regime, it is possible to do, but only if the gas distribution company will receive the assistance of shareholders, among which the Moldovan government is included. It owns 35.3 percent of Moldovagaz shares, another 50 percent is owned by the Russian Gazprom.

Previous agreement between Gazprom and Moldovagaz expired on September 30, 2021. Under the threat of complete cessation of gas supplies to the republic, the new five-year agreement was signed, which began on November 1. One of the most important conditions was the full and timely payment of current payments. However, in November, the Moldavskaya company has crushed paying. To solve the problem, the government had to urgently make amendments to the budget. In December, the company coped with its own forces.

As Cheban notes, the problem for Moldovagaza remains the habit of receiving gas in installments and in debt, but opportunities for such policies are completed. He called on the National Energy Agency to promptly increase gas tariffs for the population, otherwise the company will experience a chronic lack of money for translating Gazprom.
