The National Aeronautics and US Space Administration (NASA) is concerned with the reduction of the number of astronauts. It is reported with reference to Futurism NASA report.
The document noted that currently in the astronaut 44 people. This is in contrast to 2000, when there were 150 NASA astronauts. Lack of specialists can prevent ground work of NASA and will produce replacement crews.
The publication suggested that the reduction in the number of astronauts could jeopardize NASA’s plans to return to the moon in the next few years.
Reducing the number of astronauts led to the release of retired professionals. In the period from 2004 to 2012 about 10 astronauts left a year. The Futurism notes that the new set of astronauts will stop this process.
Earlier, NASA administrator Bill Nelson said the desire to meet with the head of the state corporation “Roscosmos” Dmitry Rogozin.
