They are psychologists, specialized educators or social assistants, and claim the same salary revaluation as those granted to their caregivers: employees of the social and medico-social, serving people with disabilities or children in difficulty, are called to strike, Tuesday, January 18, to denounce a “rupture of equality”.
from 450,000 to one million professionals, employees of hospital and territorial public functions or the private sector, are concerned by this situation, explained, Monday, at a press conference the representatives of an Intersyndical CFDT- FO-UNSA.
These are non-caregiver staff – including administrators and technicians in institutions or services that take care of seniors or disabled, but also vulnerable children or adolescents, or homeless people.
“The differences in treatment according to the socio-professional category in the same establishment or service are not acceptable,” summed up at the Nathalie Pain, the Health / Social CFDT.
“A problem of equity”
Remuneration increases of 183 euros net per month were granted to the summer of 2020 during the health segur to the staff of hospitals and retirement homes. But they have not been extended gradually and partially to other sectors, resulting in skills flight for better-paid sectors and important recruitment difficulties, denounce unions.
“This is a problem of equity. Some professionals resign, they are disgusted by the absence of recognition of their profession,” said Didier Birig, of FO.
Last November, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that a “social and medico-social support conference” would be organized before January 15th. However, this conference was then postponed until the first quarter, on an unspecified date, further feeding the anger of the unions. This consultation will finally take place on February 18, Monday, a government source said.
