In metro of three Russian cities tested 5G network

Rostelecom will tested the technology of communication of the fifth generation (5G) in the metropolis of three Russian cities – Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan. The relevant application was submitted to the State Commission on Radio Frequids (GCRC). About this on Monday, January 17, writing “Izvestia”.

According to the publication, in the application, the operator requests the GCRC for allocate for testing the 5G network frequency range 3.3 – 3.4 GHz and 3.8 – 4.1 GHz at ground stations of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan, and In the underground – 3.4 – 3.8 GHz. It is noted that the experiment in the metropolitan metro is planned to be carried out on the annular line.

Rostelecom representative Valery Kostarev explained that equipment testing in real conditions is necessary for full preparation for the construction of 5G networks in Russia, this is necessary both operators and future consumers of services. He assured that testing of these frequencies in the subway will not create interference with ground radio electronic means.

In turn, the Ministry of Media clarified that the application will be considered at the nearest meeting of the GCRC.

According to the report of the Global Association of Mobile Suppliers (GSA), in 2021 the number of countries where at least one fifth generation network has reached 78. According to experts, the cellular communication of the new generation gradually applies throughout the planet. In 145 countries, 487 operators either launched their networks or are at the planning stage – in 2020 they were 412. Some of them conducted tests, but have not yet connected to customer networks.
