The export potential of Russian companies – producers of hydrogen and ammonia in the next 10 years will be from 9 to 10 million tons per year. Such data disclosed in the World Economic Forum (WEF) and BCG report, TASS reports.
Also, according to the managing director and partner of BCG Anton Koschach, whose words are given in the report, the prospects for hydrogen business are in terms of the development of the domestic market – in the “green” metallurgy, fertilizer production or the operation of heavy and career equipment.
According to BCG estimates, “the potential for decarbonization of the operational activities of the Russian business is comparable to international companies – to a third of CO2 emissions can be addressed to economically cost-effective measures.” According to the analyst, Russian companies for the most part have passed the “step of adoption” of the new reality and the concept of carbon neutrality. However, as business models and regulation of this industry will change, it is still to find out, Kosach notes.
Earlier, the Russian government approved the concept of the development of hydrogen energy, divided into three stages. On the first, calculated for three and a half years, it is planned to create clusters and implement pilot projects for the production and export of hydrogen. Also, within the framework of the first stage, the authorities are calculated to begin the use of hydrogen agents in the domestic market.
The second and third stages are designed for the deadlines until 2035 and 2050. At this time, the opening of large industries will be expected, the products of which will be exported, and the massive use of hydrogen technologies in different areas.
