General Secretary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav stated the need to improve the organization’s effectiveness in an interview with Belarus-1 TV channel, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the words, such a necessity arose due to the situation that consists in the area of the CSTO’s responsibility. In particular, it was once again confirmed by what happened in Kazakhstan. “It is necessary to strengthen our opportunities to ensure collective security, the territorial integrity of our states, sovereignty,” he noted.
The Secretary General stressed that the strengthening of the regional world and collective security, the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the CSTO states remains the “issue of number one issue” for the organization’s countries.
In the same conversation, it appreciated the actions of the authorities of Kazakhstan during the riots. According to him, the appeal of the President of the country Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev for assistance to the CSTO was correct and corresponded to the situation.
