Manifestation of teachers will not “be prevented” by police prefecture

Le Monde with AFP

The event of the teachers scheduled Thursday in the capital “will not be prevented” by the Paris police prefect, despite the filing off the deadline of the declaration by the unions, learned the France-Presse agency (AFP) of Police sources Wednesday, January 19th.

In a letter sent to the trade union organizations and whose AFP had awareness, the prefect, Didier Lallement, written that he will not “prevent” the conduct of this event. He insists that he has “not prohibited” but that he could not deliver “a receipt” without breaking the law. The Paris police prefect also recalls to the organizers “by passing in addition to the law” they “commit [their] responsibility, especially criminal”.

Teacher unions referred Wednesday to Prime Minister Jean Castex, by mail to ask him to intervene with the police prefect. They argued that, “in use, the prefecture very frequently accepts deposits out of delay”.
