The Russian Embassy in Belarus disclosed the number of Russian citizens who are in prisons and the SIZO of the Republic. About this on Wednesday, January 19, RBC reports.
346 Russians are serving a sentence in Belarusian prisons, another 109 are under arrest – only 455 citizens. Such data provided dipmissions in response to the request of the publication. At the same time, the letter of the embassy states that the information was last updated on July 1, 2021.
The Moscow Helsinki Group human rights organization said that the persecution of at least 11 Russians is associated with the massive protests engulfed Belarus in August 2020. Seven has already been sentenced.
As the edition notes, the least is known about the 22-year-old Anton Lyszov, who was detained and sent to the SIZO in October 2021. He is suspected of deliberate destroying or damage to someone else’s property, perfect by the organized group or caused by negligence death or the causing particularly large damage. He faces up to 12 years in prison. More about Lysov’s case is almost nothing unknown.
