On March 18, 2022, a piloted ship “Union MS-21” to the International Space Station is planned from the Baikonur cosmodrome. For the first time during the existence of this station in the crew “Union” included three Russian professional cosmonaut – Oleg Artemyev, Denis Matveyev and Sergey Korsakov. All of them graduates of the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman.
In connection with this state corporation Roscosmos, it was decided to name the upcoming launch of the “Bauman start”.
Soyuz Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft, where astronauts will go, will receive their own name – “Korolev” – in honor of the chief designer of Rocket and Space equipment Sergey Korolev – a graduate of the MSTU, under the guidance of which in the Special Design Bureau No. 1 ( Now – the Rocket and Space Corporation “Energia”) was found to the family of the piloted ships “Union”.
In OKB-1, the MGTU’s intercontinental ballistic missile was also developed, on the basis of which the Soyuz Soyule missiles subsequently created.
In honor of the flight of Baumanians, the third stage of the Soyuz-2.1a rocket, which will send the crew of the MS-21 crew, will decorate the coat of arms of the university.
Start scheduled at 18:55 Moscow time March 18. The flight of the piloted ship “Korolev” will be held on the “super-fast” twilight scheme of rapprochement. The docking is scheduled to the new nodular module “pier” of the Russian segment of the ISS, and the duration of the flight will be 195 days.
