Kent University and Frankfurt University of the Guete University conducted a study, following which eight drugs demonstrating the effectiveness against Omicron strain COVID-19. The results of the survey are published in the Cell Research magazine.
among such drugs – antiviral agents that showed their effectiveness in the fight against previous strains of coronavirus. This is EIDD-1931 (active Melupira Metabolite), aprotinin, Korostat, Nafamostat, Ribavirin, Remesevir, FavipeuTire and PF-07321332 (NirmaTelvir, Active Ingredient Paxdle).
What did the study show?
In the course of the study of cell cultures, scientists found that Omicron and previous strains of coronavirus showed sensitivity to these eight drugs.
In addition, the authors of the study discovered the reason for which people infected by Omicron are less likely to suffer in severe form. Scientists believe that this is due to the sensitivity of this strain to suppress the so-called interferon response present in all organism cells.
Means from the center of Gamalei
The preparation based on monoclonal antibodies, which is developing Russian scientists from the Gamaley Center, is also effective against Oomikron, said the head of the center, Academician RAS Alexander Ginzburg. In December, he said that clinical studies of the new drug are planned to begin after the New Year holidays, they will last for three months.
The omikron infection will protect the nasal vaccine from COVID-19, the scientist noted. He explained that the intramuscularly introduced vaccine “satellite V” is able to protect against severe disease, but not from infection, as the nasal drug does.
Clinical trials of the nasal vaccine will begin next week. The first two phases of the tests will occupy three months, several hundred volunteers will take part in them. For the third phase, about 1.5-3 thousand people will be scored. At the same time, the vaccine into civil turnover can be launched at the end of the first two phases of the test, if during this time the safety and efficiency of the drug will be confirmed.
Ombron Vaccines
Alexander Ginzburg estimated the effectiveness of the Russian Satellite Vaccine against Omikron-strain coronavirus at about 75 percent. If a person re-vaccinated “Satellite Light”, then the defense against the Omicron strain will be 100%.
According to his data, the effectiveness of the “satellite V” in who did not make a re-vaccination of citizens in six months amounted to approximately 56-57 percent. Ginzburg pointed out that the efficiency of the Russian vaccine against the Omicron strain decreases eight times, however, these indicators are sufficient to protect, since other vaccines are reduced by 21 times.
