NATO in response to Russia’s security guarantees stated that disarmament and control over arms are ready to discuss. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Agency DPA.
Agency with reference to sources reported that NATO will present a written response to the proposals of Russia for security guarantees. At the same time, diplomats noted that the response does not contain serious concessions.
“[in response] is clear to understand that the basic requirements of Russia are unacceptable for the Alliance,” DPA notes. This includes the demand of the non-expansion of the alliance and the withdrawal of troops from the member countries in the east of Europe, said the source.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that after receiving the United States from a written response, the Russian Foreign Ministry and other departments will prepare President Vladimir Putin proposals on further steps. Depending on the content of the answer, decisions will be made on further actions and relevant recommendations are developed.
