Deputy of the European Parliament from the Netherlands Tom Berendsen expressed concern about the energy crisis in the European Union. He asked the European Commission (EC) to explain what measures she intends to take in the current conditions. This is reported by RT with reference to the request policy.
So, Berendsen asked what measures the European Commission would take, “to some extent to soften the impact of the crisis on households, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as industry,” as it estimates the situation in the energy market and what, according to the EC, the reasons for the current crisis.
In addition, the European Supported asked to explain how the current conditions affected the supply of gas under the Russian gas pipeline “Yamal – Europe”, a high price for carbon emissions and a low level of stocks in European gas storage facilities. He also asked the expectations of the EC on the dynamics of prices in the energy market in the coming years.
Earlier, a member of the European Commission (EC) for Energy Cadry Simson called the geopolitical tension of one of the reasons for high gas prices, which are now observed and are expected in the short term. Simson added that facilities for storing gas reserves in the EU is not enough. “Many ministers indicated that the situation on the eastern border [EU] and the position of Russia influenced the situation in the European energy market,” she added.
According to GAS Infrastructure Europe (GIE), the gas storage facility in Europe is empty to 49.33 percent. This is 16 percentage points lower than the average over the past five years.
