General Secretary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav commented on the situation in Afghanistan. On the air TV channel ONT, he stated that the situation in the country causes concerns.
Naz called the situation in Afghanistan “very difficult” and “severe even”. It remains so after the withdrawal of American troops and allies from the country. CSTO Secretary General saw danger in the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. In his opinion, it represents a terrorist threat and a threat of drug trafficking for the member countries of the organization.
“Therefore, we are working to strengthen our southern frontiers, primarily the borders of Tajikistan with Afghanistan,” he stressed.
The CSTO Secretary General said that much depends on how effective the actions to exit the crisis in Afghanistan. He recalled that according to the United Nations estimates (UN), about nine million people or almost half of the citizens of countries “undernourish”.
“Of course, such a situation, if it is exacerbated, inevitably leads to an increase in the activity of all gangs, terrorist groups in this territory, to an increase in arms trade, those Arsenal, who remained there, and to drug trafficking,” predicted.
The representative of the CSTO added that it is not a humanitarian organization. However, its members on a bilateral basis “provide support in overcoming this crisis of humanitarian.”
Earlier, the UN reported 11 million in need of helping women and girls of Afghanistan. They need food, medical care, education and support of another kind.
