First Deputy Minister of Health of Belarus Elena Krotkova, on the air of TV channel OTT, called the timing of the start of the test of the Belarusian vaccine from Coronavirus.
“As for scientific research, preclinical tests are planned, and the production release is already planned by September 2023,” the deputy head of the republic’s Ministry of Health.
Korotkov noted that the laboratory sample of the COVID-19 vaccine was already obtained, it was confirmed that the drug increases cellular and humoral immunity. Animal tests have shown that it does not have a toxic effect.
Currently, the laboratory regulations are being developed, the method of obtaining and prepare for mass production, added deputy minister. In parallel, the construction of the plant in Vitebsk district is being conducted.
Korotkov added that at present, Omicron-strain of coronavirus is actively distributed in Belarus. According to epidemiologists, among the strains circulating on Minsk, this species occupies 50 percent, and delta and flu are also present.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health of the Republic reported that more than half of Belarusian citizens received the first component of the coronavirus vaccine. The number of Vaccine’s first dose from COVID-19 Belarusians exceeded 4.776 million – 51.1 percent of the country’s total population. Both doses of the drug received 3.65 million people – about 39 percent of citizens.
