Washington in the responses of Russia on security issues refuse to compromise on the issue of open-door policies in NATO, stated US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. This is on Sunday, January 23, reports TASS.
Blinken stressed that he made it clear to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov, that there are certain basic principles for which Washington will not allow a compromise. As an example, he led the right of countries to decide with whom and what alliances they want to enter.
At the same time, according to Secretary of State, the United States and Russia can find points of contact in such areas of European security as “arms control, provision of transparency, risk reduction, placement of missile systems.”
Earlier, the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg said that the participants of the North Atlantic Alliance confirmed the NATO Open Door Policy and the intention to protect each other in the case of armed conflict.
