European Union called on authorities of Russia to liberate wife of Chechen judge

The European Union called on the authorities of Russia to liberate the detainee Missayev, a spouse of the former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Sidi Yangulbayev. The appropriate message appeared on the EU Foreign Policy website.

“The European Union calls on the Russian authorities to liberate Mrs. Missayev, to investigate the case, as well as put an end to the persecution of human rights defenders and their family members and immediately release detainees on the fabricated charges,” the deputy office said.

Earlier, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov called members of the family of the former Chechen judge Sidi Yangulbayev accomplices of terrorists and called them to destroy them in the event of resistance during detention. He also reported that Yangulbayev’s detention was agreed.

The first messages about the abduction of Musaeva appeared on the evening of January 20th. “Committee against Torture” (in 2015, after the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Register of Inuagrations, the organization was eliminated; at the moment, it works under the same name without the formation of a legal entity) said that armed men in civilian clothes and in masks broke into the house of Yangulbayev. The woman was unconscious, she was taken out of the apartment and taken away in an unknown direction. As a basis for detention, the security forces presented a decision on the drive of witnesses in a criminal case of fraud committed in 2019.
