Friedrich Merz elected new Chairman of German CDS Party

The German policy of Friedrich Merza officially approved the new Chairman of the Party of the Christian Democratic Union (XDS). This is reported by TASS, referring to German television.

94 percent of the delegates of the Congress voted for Merz. Initially, he was elected to the future leader in mid-December last year – then 62.1 percent of about 400 thousand members of the XDS voted for politics. Now Merz approved officially, in accordance with the Charter of the Party for this it was necessary to pass the party congress.

Merz replaced as Chairman of the CDC Armina Lasheta, who could not bring the party to the victory last year’s elections to Bundestag. XDS then showed the worst result in history – voters gave only 24.1 percent of the votes.

Earlier, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharov spoke out about the material of the DW television company about the critical terms of Merz to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zakharova compared such publication with the German propaganda of the Second World War.
