In the UK, a man prepared a Christmas dinner with an electric car. So he managed to save during the energy crisis, reports The Times.
Indra Renewable Technologies company Mike Sculing baked turkey, heating the oven electricity from the Nissan Leaf electrocar battery. He charged the car at night when electricity is cheaper, and used the accumulated energy instead of electricity from the network. Thus, the Briton paid for the work of 1.62 pounds for household appliances (about 169 rubles) instead of 5.25 (about 548 rubles). Sculing participated in the experiment, which was invented by Ovo Energy. The result showed that the supply of the house with electricity from the electric car will allow one household to save approximately 420 pounds (about 43.8 thousand rubles) per year.
In addition, car owners will be able to sell energy excess. In September, Sculing earned 43.30 pounds (about 4.5 thousand rubles) on the sale of excess energy. The businessman waited for the peak of electricity prices and sold it for 240 pence (about 250 rubles) for kilowatt-hour – despite the fact that he had previously paid only 22 Pens (about 23 rubles) for kilowatt-hour. Ovo Energy believes that the electrocars will help the British in the fight against the energy crisis.
The country is becoming more dependent on renewable energy sources on the background of combating global warming. The electrocars could store solar and wind energy, making these sources more reliable. They will also help smooth the peak clock of electricity consumption, giving people the opportunity to stock them in advance.
In April, in Britain, they will raise the limit price for electricity for consumers, which is why the number of residents who are not able to pay on accounts will triple. 6.3 million households will face a lack of electricity.
